Using this on my pontoon boat.

Installation was pretty easy.

Picture quality is Very Good.

Used for viewing movies, MP3's and a back-up/rear-view camera.

Only issue was the mounting-hardware. I need to be able to adjust the positioning quite frequently and the plastic broke in under a week.

I purchased a seperate mount mad of metal.

All-In-All, a very good monitor for the money.

Plan to purchase a second one!

I am actually using this to monitor security cameras at home for which it works great with 2 exceptions. (1)The unit comes with a stand which I am using, however, I had to find an AC adaptor. An optional one offered at the purchase time would have been great.(2)If you lose the video feed for any reason, for a second or more,the AV input changes automatically to the next input.For ex., if I am viewing AV1 and I lose the signal for a second, the input switches to AV2, then AV3 then back to AV1 and so on. It stops only when it senses an input with a good signal. I use wireless cameras so whenever they "blink" for any reason, the input changes to the next one. I would prefer it to stay fixed on the selected input. This problem would be a pain even if you were watching a movie and lost feed for a second, it would change inputs. This has become a royal pain, as the input changes frequently with these wireless cameras.

I had purchased a wireless backup system about two years age. I never really liked it. It flickered on and off all the time. The camera went bad on the wireless unit and I knew I needed something new. I searched the internet and I found the Pyle plcm35. It took about 45 minutes for me to install the unit. It does its job well. Nice wide angle worked well in the sun and at night. The only problem I have with the unit is that it is always on. Night driving is a problem the plc35 is just to bright. I have to put a cloth over the screen to reduce or eliminate the bright light of the screen. There are no adjustments on the unit. My wireless had three different adjustments. If you don't mind the very bright light in your eyes at night it is just fine. I think I paid about $70.00 for the unit.

The monitor had a loose part rattling around. Installation directions were vitrually non-existant. Package came with two power harnesses; one with fuse and one without. No direction as to which cord went to camera and which went to monitor. Image would appear on monitor, quite clearly, and then go off within 5 seconds. I returned it.

This is a great radio the only things keeping me from giving it 5 stars> Very slow start up 1-2 minutes. No direct connection for Ipod you have to buy a separate adapter. The USB uses only flash drives so you can not use a portable hard drive with the system.

Some points.

1. It is slow to power up which is easy to live with.

2. iPod - Controls work great, but when it pulls in the album artwork, the picture is pixilated. No big deal.

Video from the iPod comes across without a hitch.

3. Steering wheel controls: there is a slight delay but otherwise works fine.

4. Satellite: Some installers told me that it wouldn't work with the factory satellite antennae and would need to run the antennae that comes with the SCC1. I was going to forego the satellite option because I didn't want two antennae on my roof, until I talked to one installer who said, "that's not true, I install them all the time using the factory satellite antennae". Using an adapter between the original line and the DNX5140, it works fine and I receive the same clear signal that I received with the stock unit.



This is a good buy if you can wait for the price to go down. At the time of this post, it was sold by Car Toys via Amazon and is significantly less expensive than going direct to Car Toys. It seems to fluctuate between $580 and $619 on a daily basis. I've even seen the DNX6140 as low as $609. The only difference between the 5140 and the 6140 is the 6140 comes blue tooth ready. The 5140 requires a separate module.

Although I did LOVE my REN MyGig, it was lacking something major for me, NAVIGATION!



I tried to get the same MyGig with navigation, but at this price, I couldn't help but try the Kenwood.

First, the navigation. It works SO much better than my Magellan GPS model. Garmin is GREAT in the nav department.

Second, the radio. Volume? MUCH higehr. And I paid the extra $30 for the iPod connection, and it works great. iPod stays hidden in glove box, and ALL controls are done straight from screen of Kenwood. Even watching videos.

Third, price. Price of unit (March 2009) was $587, price of install at Best Buy was $240. Can't beat it!

I bought this for my wife for Christmas since she liked my pioneer Avic D-3. It isn't as good as the Pioneer, but it does what it says it can. The maps are fairly accurate, with a few (why the heck is it making us turn here in the middle of this field) moments, but overall an average GPS system comparable with a Tom Tom or Garmin. The maps could have a little more deatail on them like more major road names instead of having to zoom way close to read the names of side streets and non-major roads. The GPS voice, lets just say that I-Robot it ain't. The voice is horrid. It mispronounces too many common street names and sometimes isn't clear on what it wants you to do. Example: instead of saying "Turn left on Morgan street ahead", it says "Turn on Morgan stra all lef". It's like having a foreign exchange student in the car with you mispronouncing common words, you just have to laugh, interpret what it said to whomever is in the car with you, and drive on hoping you made that correct turn. Overall, decent for 600 bucks, but it could have been fine-tuned

I have been upgrading my sound system for the past 10 years, trying many different decks, speakers, sub woofers and amps. This is a great sound processor that enables the full sound shaping capabilities of your Alpine deck. I currently have an CDA-105 and competition equipment all the way around and I thought that finally I had got the perfect system prior to getting this component, but I was wrong since this unit has a 4v 6 channel output vs the 2v of my deck it improved the sound amplification. If you have more than one amplifier in your system you need this unit, it features a crossover that will do wonders for your sound system. If you like to tweak your system to your liking then this is the unit to have you wont be disappointed but I wouldn't recommend to get the microphone to do the automatic acoustic compensation but that's me !! I like to do it myself.

I purchased this along with the auto-calibration kit (the KTX-h100) for my new car system. I set the system up and tried it without calibration first, other than tweaking the fade and bass/trebel. I thought it sounded pretty darn good.

I then did the sound measurement calibration with the microphone and there was a BIG difference in sound quality (it lets you turn the multi-eq on and off, to hear before and after calibration results). So much so, that I found myself wondering if the stereo really sounded that much worse before. I had a friend who had heard the system before calibration listen to it again with Multi-EQ off to see if he thought it sounded the same, which he did.



Bottom line: this thing WILL improve your sound quality ALOT if you (like me) don't have the faintest idea what needs to be tweaked in an advanced equalizer to get your system sounding better. The biggest difference you will notice is that with this thing on, you can't really tell where your music is coming from, instead of before when, if you tried, you could clearly make out where the speakers were. In other words, it makes it seem as if the music is just appearing in midair around you, instead of from the doors in your car (at least for me). On top of that, the music just sounds much better, like a stock system vs aftermarket all over again. Of course I would not recommend this unless you have invested in good speakers all around for your car. I'm using Bostons and a Basslink II in the trunk.

Wish Alpine didn't do this kind of thing. The iDA-X series head units really should have decent equalizers built in. Until I get this dumb thing I'm willing to sacrifice sound quality for excellent iPod control. I don't appreciate having my arm twisted by Alpine.



Whenever I'm ready to buy another head unit I really hope there is another brand with good iPod control.

An audiophile friend says my car stereo is the best he's ever heard, thanks to the auto-calibration feature on this Imprint unit. Coupled with the Alpine CDA-9886 headunit and Focal speakers and subwoofer, this thing sounded really good. But when the microphone and software arrived to calibrate the system to my exact interior, using a laptop computer to analyze the sounds from the various speakers... WOW! The speakers are now time delayed so that the THUMP of a drum or the PLUCK of a string reaches my ear from all speakers at the exact same time. The frequency gaps that existed before because of the car interior have been eliminated.



If you have the coin, this is a terrific idea for car audio. You use the microphone to take various sound measurements from six different places inside your car. The computer makes adjustments to the IMPRINT processor. Then you have fantastic sound. It's that simple.

There have been a lot of processors through the years that sought to correct the frequency response and soundstage in cars, and they've all been near useless - until now. The Imprint/Audyssey works perfectly!



My stereo sounded good before, but there were problems. Compared with my friend's Lexus/Mark Levenson system, it was laughable. Now, my car stereo sounds almost exactly like my home stereo, but with better bass response. Wow! Better than any Bose, Nak, Mark Levenson, or other factory system I've heard at any price. I'm kinda in shock, actually; I never thought it could sound this good. My life is better. I look forward to being in my car. I love this thing! I don't want to listen to a non-corrected car stereo ever again.

I bought these headphones so that I would not disturb others in adjacent apartments. They work very well. The infrared transimitter is not subject to radio frequency noise and therefore virtually noise free. As with others, my primary complaint is that no transformer comes with the unit. I found a transformer on Ebay for $10.00 shipping included. In addition, I had to buy heat shrink tubing, a soldering iron, solder and male plugs for the audio connection. Also I find the foam on the earpieces a little uncomfortable with extended use, but I'm having a quilter friend fabricate silk covers for them. Everything included, I would definitely buy these again. They are much more than adequate and deliver great clear sound.

I bought these separately but for my Pyle mobile DVD player. They work fine but like most I bought them for my kids. Within 2 months they have broken both battery caps and I've had to use tape to keep them together. While my kids are age 5 and 3 they are not overly destructive kids. I have since bought 2 new pairs with different ear pieces since the foam pieces look like they may also begin to go.

I received the IDA-X100m for installation into a 180 Bowrider (2000 Crownline). My boat came with a cassette deck (what they didn't have CDs in 2k??), so obviously it was going to have to go away.



I recently purchased a Pioneer MVH-P8200 for my RV about 2 weeks previous. That deck is also a AV receiver with Iphone integration and without a CD player. Since all of my media is digital, I had become used to having to burn CDs for use in the car which was both a waste of time and money but easy enough. That being said, this generation of decks which provides support for digital only is the future and is perfect for customers like me. So my Pioneer is a similar unit, large display with a single control wheel and advanced Ipod integration - no CD player wanted or included. (I have a iPhone 4). Nice deck, less expensive than the Alpine and a good fit for the type of usage it will get in the RV and advantage to the Pioneer for also having front mounted USB and aux inputs. Thats nice and the only advantage over the Alpine (other than being 100$ cheaper) however I do wish if I had it to do over again, I would rather have the Alpine instead:



So that out of the way, now looking at Marine models, I actually started my research slightly backwards because I knew I wanted a transom remote control, I considered how those looked and performed from Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony and Alpine, and the Alpine Remote Commanders are by far superior in terms of display, water proofing and functionality. That led me to the Alpine Marine Decks, and thus to the IDA-X100M. I was first struck by the ergonomics of the unit. One of the things I did not like about the Pioneer deck is that the control wheel isn't quite large enough which makes it tough to use to navigate. The Alpine knob is oversize, easy to grasp and the navigation makes sense. I have no problem operating it while driving the boat. Its easy to use and operate. The display is great and the illumination sharp. Connecting to my iPhone was simple and easy just as it should be, and I found the navigation of my music libraries was simple and intuitive. Unit came with everything I needed to install and since my boat only had 1 pair of speakers, I choose to use the internal amp for those and as expected was a huge improvement over its replacement and plenty of power. I have a external 1000w mono Fosgate Amp connected to a T1D12 sub woofer and the dedicated sub woofer RCAs (and control) made connecting it a breeze. Obviously there are also RCA outs for additional front/rear as well. Sound quality is typical Alpine - sounds great. FM radio seem sensitive, sounds good.



High WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). Wife loves the look, found it easy to browse and find the music she wanted without having to read the instructions which is important. I have not yet hooked up the Marine Commander, but am anticipating from watching the demo videos that it will be awesome. I don't anticipate watching videos on the small screen, but appreciate having the option, as well as satellite radio, HD radio and the other add on components available. I like being able to use other USB storage including SD/MMC cards, however apparently unable to display the album artwork (why not?) is a downer. You only get that when connected to your ipod/iphone. Not a big deal to me, as I will always have my phone with me anyways, and I also appreciate that the ringer and email/text notification sounds come through the speakers so I don't miss calls when the music is pumping. I dont have the optional bluetooth. For me that is a must have in a car, but on the water, mic integration and ambient noise make it a non starter as well as my desire to have fun, not be on the phone in the water. I do however want to at least know I am getting a call/txt/email so if its important I can return the call.



Highly recommended for anyone wanting to go pure digital.

I have always went for Alpine decks, and for my boat their was not another choice, the Ipod function is flawless with little to be desired! It was a little tricky to find the treble and bass settings, you have to press the imprint button and at the bottom of the screen real small is the settings. The only draw back to the deck is the Fm radio is very stat-icky, I have bought an antenna booster and still having a problem. I thought to myself this is the perfect opportunity to buy the HD tuner but the reviews are discouraging, the last option is to run a ground from the battery to see if I can solve this problem that way. If not I will be buying the Sirius kit, been a long time subscriber and will have no need for the Fm radio after that.
