"Just disable the AD2P for iPhone!!" 2010-06-29
By Cavin Greer
I love this unit and have no real complaints with any of the features. Being able to play from any type of source, USB or BT Audio is great and it all works quite well with only a few quirks. Playing from a USB Stick the only drawback is you can't do random but I'm probably one of only a few geeks in the world who would even try it. It's 100% compatible with iPod/iPhone and you can switch control to either unit, but I much prefer using my iPhone to control my music rather than the multi-control.

The only complaint I've had is not with the unit but Apple and the iPhone software, just as thousands of other people. Since iPhone 3.2.x BT Audio streaming (A2DP) is available, however you can't disable it. You also can't choose the dock as the default device. As a result when you crank up the car the Tuner or USB will immediately start playing but as soon as the Bluetooth pairs your iPhone will mute (switch over) and you'll have to go back into iPod on the iPhone to choose the Dock connector. OR better yet you won't even know the unit is playing, because it will start at random, usually after you make a call and hang up, and run your battery down playing in silence in your pocket!

Thankfully after much searching, hair-pulling and throwing things I discovered how to disable this annoyance in the Pioneer DEH-P6100BT (and probably most other similar units). Check your owners manual under Pairing a device and selecting a service. The Service is the key! You must go into BT Audio > Connection > Select your device then press the multi-control to get to the SERVICE menu. There you can keep Phone selected and unselect AVRCP and A2DP. Now you will still have handsfree calling but no random BT Audio streaming. NEXT you turn the radio off, enter the Initial Settings > BT Audio and set it to OFF. Now your source button will go from Tuner > USB > Aux1 > Aux2 (if you leave those enabled)

EDIT - Celebrated too soon. The very next time I got in my vehicle and the BT paired all the settings reverted to default which enables BT Audio and A2DP. Very dissapointing. I'm not going to reduce my rating because this is really Apple's fault not Pioneer's but I am contacting Pioneer about why those settings aren't saved.

"Love the Pioneer with Bluetooth!" 2010-03-01
By A. Muller (Canada)
I bought this deck because my main interest was the intergrated Blue Tooth. For some reason in Canada bluetooth decks are pretty expensive or require other parts to install.

First off I love Pioneer brand and will always have Pioneer Brand so I am familiar with the functionality of them.

I love the Bluetooth, definately recommend reading the How to Manual so you get all the functions right, but after some fooling around I am a pro now :)

Also love that it has a USB and AUX jack for my Ipod..another huge plus!

I bought off Amazon because I couldn't find this anywhere for that good of price, but disappointed that they wouldn't ship to Canada. So just had shipped to family in the USA then shipped to Canada..minor inconveniece but worth it.

Definately recommend the product..and everyone says the little "dial" is hard to use..you all must have VERY large fingers cause I have no issues what so ever :)

Thanks!

The bluetooth voice and media streaming works great with my storm phone. My only problem is with the volume control on the unit. The multi function nob is hard to get a grip and turn without performing an unwanted function. It's better to use the remote for volume; but it can be distracting to find while driving. Other then that, the unit is set up nicely and works good. I would recommend this to a friend.

"Lots of bang for your buck" 2010-02-18
By S. A. Yousefi (LAUREL, MD, US)
I have had this product for over a month and I'm very satisfied with it. The Bluetooth was very easy to set up and it

works like a charm with my iPhone. It takes a while to get used to the settings and the menus and the multiple control knob makes it easy for you to click something you weren't trying to click, but with some practice it's not too bad. It also has a ton of sound optimizing options (maybe too much for the average user).

One gripe about it is that it feels very "speaker phone" like to the people on other end of your call, I was hoping the mic would be better quality but it's not horrible.

The Bluetooth audio stream is also a neat option, you can stream music from your iPhone wirelessly and I didn't note any lag with it at all.

Overall it's a great product and well worth the 200 but I had to get mine professionally installed at best buy because I didn't know how to hook up the wires once I took the old unit out (50 dollars for the head unit install and another 20 to run the mic to the roof of my car by the driver side visor).
