All things considered, these are fantastic speakers. They are still "MB Quart", just not manufactured in Germany anymore. They sound pretty good, but miss some of the softer tones that the Qs were known for.
Some people have stated that the tweeters are harsh, i only assume they arent amplifying them from an external amplifier.... I am running them with a strong 75+ watts and they are VERY clear. While they can be bright, adjustments to your PEQ and X-over helps out tremendously.
I enjoy the inverted dome tweeters the most, they really bring out the soundstage better in my car.
You get what you pay for here, i recommend them highly for the price, but will likely purchase Type X next time.

As with all Amazon purchases this went like silk. I had been enjoying my speakers until I heard some Polk DB's then some Morels (I know it's not fair), then some JL's. All in different cars of course, but none in vehicles where the installation was as complete or professional as mine, not in terms of deadening, positioning, or amplification. All these other stereos sounded better. The real blow was the Polk DB's, I mean really!
As a replacement for factory driver, sure they are better but what isn't? I wanted to be happy with the speakers but after months of fighting them I realize the are what they are, low end speakers. I still have a pair of MB Quart 6x9 from the German days and those thing were astonishing. I was so hung up on my previous experience that I couldn't get my brain around the fact that these aren't that good.
They will do one thing quite well and that is pound! You might think twice about a subwoofer once these are in. But for clarity and detail they are not all that great. They suck any sense of space out of even the best recordings.
That said, they are worth the money but if you think you are getting a 500 dollar pair of speakers for 120 bucks, think again.

I bought these speakers with great enthusiasm and when I wired them up, the initial impression produced a big smile! By the second tune I realized the tonal balance is what I liked when I attended high school, too bright and the highs and lows were over boosted.
If you leave your bass and treble flat and produce a moderate volume, you're guaranteed a headache!
The cross overs you get are HUGE and made to show off. They also produce an annoying rattle. You would have to wrap the crossovers in a sound deadening material to reduce the rattle, which makes them even larger to place somewhere.
Basically, you likely will have to put the crossovers in the dash, under the seat or trunk, because they certainly are not going to fit anywhere else in many cars. WHY are they so big? If you manage to fit them in a crevice with poor sound dampening, get ready for rattles from the cross overs.
If you decide to set them up as a coaxial speaker, you begin to appreciate the poor fit and finish.
After a few days, I posted the MB Quarts on ebay at a loss. What a headache and hassle!?
I have infinity Kappa's with integrated crossovers now. They are a great value! They are simply superior! Easier to wire! Integrated cross over! Superior build and sound quality.

I just had these professionally installed in my Civic, on the way home from the shop I was grinning the entire way. The sound fidelity from these speakers is incredible, I was listening to some of my favorites and I heard parts of the music I didn't even know existed even after listening hundreds of times. The bass response is almost as good as a subwoofer and the tweeters really envelope you with sound. I would recommend these to anybody, the best speakers I have heard in a car. If you appreciate high quality sound, these are the speakers for you.
