Tweeters
The 25mm liquid-cooled silk/polymer composite dome tweeter with neodymium magnet provide clear, detailed highs.
Flush and surface mount swivel cups allow placement flexibility for soundstage optimization in your vehicle.
Mid/Woofers
The 6.5-inch woofers feature a dynamic balance polymer/mica composite mineral-filled cone, which is stiff yet lightweight, for big sound with little distortion. The butyl rubber surround won't fall apart under the stress of extreme temperatures, sunlight or time, for years of the great Polk sound.
The woofer's low-mass, two-layer 25mm Kapton voice coil former ensures high power handling and great reliability. Although Katpon handles plenty of heat, a pole plate heat sink promotes better heat dissipation.
A flat spider provides faster, longer excursion linear motion, and the flexible woven leads are sewn directly into Spider for greater reliability.
Finally, the backbone--a rock solid, acoustically inert stamped steel basket finished in rustproof Gun Metal Gray.
Installation
The supplied adaptor rings enable the db6501 to fit both 6-1/2-inch and 6-3/4-inch applications, ensuring an easy fit in everything from domestics to imports including VWs and Audis, BMWs and other European imports.
The tough-looking ABS Grilles are computer optimized and based on exclusive MOMO designs, and stainless steel mounting hardware is included.
Crossover
The 2nd-order Butterworth outboard crossover helps get you component system sound at a coaxial price. Electronic tweeter protection keeps your tweeters from accidental abuse for reliable, high-output sound, and the vented crossover housing gives you a choice of hidden wire channels for easier, more professional-looking installs.

After 10 years with constantly degrading sounds quality out of my Jetta OEM speakers I decided to upgrade. I was recommended these speakers by one of the major online electronics sites but the cost was too steep for my budget. I found the same speakers here for almost half price and went for it. Absolutely no regrets - I can't believe how much better the sound is!!! The other site tried to convince me to spend $$$ on an amp and new head unit because the claimed that these speakers needed the extra juice. I connected to my OEM headunit and at the listening levels that I am used to I think there is pleanty of power (no need to make the ears bleed). Perhaps with more power the base would be a little more acertive but with a -3db adjustment to the tweeter crossover it suits my needs.
The one word of caution is that you may need to use some creativity in the install. I had to break out the dremel to the OWM speakers to recommosion the spacer ring for proper woofer speaker depth. The tweeters also required a little shaving of the internal mounts to fit these guys which have a housing potted to them. Not rocket science and a little serach on the web should give you pointers on what you would be in for.

With my old vehicles I use to spend loads of money on systems. I would use Eclipse decks and speakers powered by JL audio amps. I always loved the mellowness of the highs without being piercing. In my new car I didn't want to go so expensive or crazy, just something easy that would sound good. I installed these Polks in my 04 S2000 and they were a perfect fit. Just a little modification needed to match the holes but very simple. The speakers sound great. I lowered the tweeter decibel on the crossover -3 which tones them down and are never too sharp. The highs are clear and the lows are very good. I don't use an amp but could only imagine them with one. I run them off of a JVC KDR900 so not a super high end deck but performs very well with these speakers. I recommend fully. You won't be disappointed.

this are with out a doubt my favorite speakers! i picked up a pair for under $90. and when properly installed and powered (crucial) they sound like a $300 set. i have installed the DB series in 4 different vehicles i have owned and never once had a problem. i highly recommend these. i was surprised at the amount of bass these pumped out, but like i said, being adequately powered is the trick to getting the great sound they are capable of.

After installing these speakers in my 95 Mazda Miata, I was truly amazed. I have heard great speaker systems throughout my days of seeing my friends upgrade their stereo systems but I am finally proud to have one of my own.
Since the Miata is a convertible, I wanted a set of speakers that wouldnt get drown out from the wind noise. These speakers when turned up get louder and crisper the more volume put into them. At 70-80mph on the highway I can still hear my music loud and clear (they are amplified by a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp).
Installation was a breeze but because I decided to install the Crossover in my glovebox for ease of access, I had to add on my own wire. I love the ability to be able to change the treble with a flip of a switch.
Overall great speakers and a great price! I have a Polk Audio Center Channel for my home entertainment system as well. Polk Audio is a great company and I highly reccomend buying their products.

these polk components are really great speakers for the money. i am running them on alpine head unit power only and they sound great, mostly thanks to their high sensitivity and efficient design.
they come with a ring for helping with mounting locations.. but they barely fit in my s2000 with a bit of forcing into shape so check your vehicles compatibility!
