"Good Player with some Glitches" 2010-09-07
By Kevin W (California)
I originally purchased this receiver because I was looking for a cheap all-in-one.

Pros: Good quality sound, great to be able to connect any device. I primarily use a SD card although I've noticed some glitches. Bluetooth works great, connects every time and the people on the other end tell me to 'stop yelling' because the quality is so good. I can sit comfortably upright without shouting or directing my face to the deck and it works great. Voice comes through loud and clear. Intuitive interface, although it can take a long time (and attention off the road) to find the track you want. I've used the Ipod also, works good.

Cons: I've noticed a glitch where when the deck is reading some (only at the end of the folder tree) of my folders on the SD card, after I've selected the song I want, it jumps around from tracks and in the middle of songs before it restarts at the beginning of the track. It does it at the end of the songs also. Weird. I only use the SD Card so it can be frustrating, but not enough for me to send it back. Another gripe I have is that when you use the phone, it doesn't save your place in the track you're listening to, so when you come back to the music it's skipped ahead usually a couple of tracks. There's no adjustable brightness or scroll speed that I can find (?).

All and all, good enough to keep. I wish there was a firmware upgrade (?) for this...

"too bad radio is spotty" 2010-08-16
By R. Irvin (Alabama)
I've had this unit running for 8 months and the radio is spotty. Sometimes it works and other times it's out. The SD card and USB always play great so I know it's not a speaker problem. And the BlueTooth works great.

"I'm happy with it, overall" 2010-07-19
By Ziggy Q. Bozo (Philadelphia, PA USA)
First, the minor annoyances: If you want the first radio channel preset, press the second button. The first button is not a radio preset. I've gotten used to the fact that the station which is the third button on all of my other radios is the fourth button in my car. Also, I'd prefer if the volume dial stood out further so it was easier to turn with my big fingers. These things are minor annoyances, but still annoying after several months.

Second, the major annoyance: when playing from an SD card, it skips. Generally only when driving fast but on a long highway drive it can be really annoying.

Other than that I'm very happy with it. I installed it myself without too much trouble, and the controls are easy to use, in general. I love putting a ton of music onto an SD card, and I love the blue-tooth phone interface. I have separate folders on the SD card for different types of music, and it's easy to skip to the next folder for a different type of music.

"Good choice for rcvr w/ bluetooth and sd" 2010-07-07
By Bruce Hill
I've had this receiver for 6 months, and am generally pleased.

Pluses:

* Bluetooth is great, good sound quality, easy to use (except for dial out)

* Love having access to USB, SD, aux, iPod, and mp3 CD's

* Remembers track and position on poweroff - essential for audio cd's

Minuses:

* It stopped playing cd's in the first hour of operation. Factory repaired it free, but 3 week turnaround

* Slow startup for digital media, as it takes 10-20 seconds to read the entire file system before beginning playback.

* Navigation for large mp3 media is awkward - all you can do is forward and back through the directories in the order they're written on the media, so if you're on an artist, you have to go thru all their albums before going to the next artist.

* Random and Repeat modes are mutually exclusive, and display shows stuff like "Random 019" instead of song title when in random or repeat mode. (Front panel button momentarily shows title)

* Bluetooth dialing is awkward. Don't even think about dialing from rcvr while driving, although you can originate calls from your bluetooth cell phone speed dial.

* Limited playback options - No genre play, or playlists, just select a directory and it'll play everything under that directory.

Overall, a good product. Just wish navigation and screen display had been done better.

Watch out for similar products that don't remember track and position. This is the best

I found after extensive searching for bluetooth, mp3 cd, and sd capability.

 "PhaseLinear BT 1161" 2010-07-02
By C. steward
Absolutely incredible product both in quality and performance . The only reason I can fathom the manufacturer discontinuing this product is that it offers too much in performance and features for the price . All features perform at or above expected levels and installation is a snap once acquiring the proper manufactuers harness adpater . The only drawback to this product is the lack of ability to dim the BRIGHT blue display at night , this can be very distracting .
